This Sunday, our General Manager Operations, Katie Lightowler, takes on the Great South Run in aid of Mind – The Mental Health Charity.
Aiming to beat her personal goal, at 10 miles, the Great South Run will be the furthest distance Katie has run. In addition to her personal achievement, Katie is also hoping to raise as much money as possible for Mind.
Mind does a whole host of great work but one of the main things they are involved in at the moment is the Time To Talk campaign – currently the primary message is around ‘It’s the small things’ – aiming to encourage people to share the small things that they’ve done to support a friend, or something that a friend has done for them.
“I’m slightly nervous but happy with the training that I’ve done”, said Katie. “If there’s one thing I’d love to encourage people to do (with the exception of donate as much money as possible to this great cause) is follow Minds lead and think about the small things you can do for others and thank people for the small things they do for you”.
The Simplyhealth Great South Run takes place this Sunday and is expected to have 20,000 runners taking part this year.
