‘StemGuard’ Summer Release

The highly anticipated Masuri StemGuard will be available to buy in August at reputable cricket retailers.

The clip-on based attachment joins onto the back of the existing Vision Series helmet, with the use of specially moulded clips.

It offers vital protection to previously vulnerable areas of the neck, without hindering the movement of the batsman’s head.

Hampshire opener Jimmy Adams got the chance to test out the StemGuard in March, and he was very complimentary of its effectiveness.

Adams said:

It does its job, anything that keeps a batsman feeling like they still have movement and functionality with added protection is great.”

Ian Healy is a former Australian wicket-keeper batsman, and he got to take a look at the StemGuard on Channel nine, and admires the design.

Healy said:

They [Masuri] have done plenty of work on the helmet and the safety conditions of this. The honeycomb plastic combination disperses forces and it attaches well to the grille.”

The design was launched in February, and this came after the tragic death of Phil Hughes in November, where the ball struck him on an un-covered part of the neck.

Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara became the first player to trial the StemGuard in a match situation, at the ICC World Cup.

It has also recently been adopted by some members of the England team on their tour of the West Indies.

The StemGuard will be available to purchase in August across five colours; navy, green, maroon, black and yellow. All leading cricket retailers will be stocking the StemGuard to compliment the market leading Vision Series range of helmets.
