The partnership between Masuri and TON have announced the signing of Australian wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey as their first official brand ambassador.

Currently in the UK competing in the World Cup as Vice-Captain for the Australian national team; Alex is widely acknowledged as one of the most exciting talents in world cricket today and continues to impress both on and off the field. During the 2016-2017 Sheffield Shield season, Carey became the 4th player in history to score 500 runs and take 50 dismissals in a season as well as breaking the record for most wicket-keeper dismissals in a season with 59.

The announcement comes in the same year that Masuri have launched a pioneering range of protective equipment in addition to their long-standing pedigree as market leader of cricket helmets and neck protection.

Sam Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Masuri said “This is a landmark moment in our company’s history, Masuri have developed a range of protective items that absorb more impact than its competitors and when Alex showed genuine interest in that development , as well as a desire to have input into future developments, we simply had to make this partnership happen. This is an exciting phase for Alex’s cricket career and Masuri will be doing everything it can to play its part in keeping him on the pitch.”

Masuri and TON have detailed that they plan to take an alternative approach to more traditional player / brand sponsorship agreements with Carey taking an active and involved role as the relationship develops over time.

Alex commented, “I’m really excited for the opportunity to team up with Masuri and TON. I have used Masuri helmets for a number of years and to now be able to use the new cricket gear is a very exciting opportunity. Having the best protective equipment is very important to me and having been given some insight to what the team have developed, I know I’m in safe hands”.

The agreement also means that the cricket bat partnership between Sareen Sports and Masuri (announced earlier this year) will be showcased on a professional level for the first time, with Carey taking to the pitch this week with the new ‘TON by Masuri bat’. TON are the largest manufacturer of cricket bats in the world, making over 300,000 bats per year.

Jatin Sareen, Owner of Sareen Sports said, “I am incredibly proud to have Alex playing with a TON by Masuri bat. His strike rate has been outstanding so far in the World Cup Tournament and I look forward to seeing that grow with a bat made and selected by us”.

Sam Miller added, “this announcement is our strategy being realised, Alex now knows that he is in the safest hands possible from a player protection point of view with Masuri, as well as playing with the very best English Willow bats possible with the TON by Masuri – a truly specialist approach to supplying the game”.

It was explained that there is much more to follow once the World Cup has ended, however, it is clear that Masuri have plans to continually develop and grow from here. Miller ended, “We look forward to launching a wicket keeping range of product in time for the 2019/2020 Australian season in addition to our previously launched batting range.”
