About Us
Masuri’s cricket products are designed for cricketers by cricketers
OUR HERITAGE
The Masuri story began in Cape Town in 1991 with the creation of the now commonplace stainless steel grille. They were an instant success, replacing the existing polycarbonate and the heavy, coated mild steel grilles. Masuri sold the first three to Dean Jones, Geoff Marsh and David Boon at Somerset’s early season match against the Ashes winning 1989 Australian team and the initial stock of 1,000 grilles was instantly purchased by 3D sports in Cheltenham, selling out within a matter of weeks.
Work then began to create the first lightweight, adjustable helmet and Masuri soon became the most widely worn in the first class and International arena. Our helmets became the choice of influential players such as Mike Atherton, Graham Gooch, Robin Smith and Brian Lara.
Masuri were also the first to introduce the titanium visor, fielding visor, wicket keeping helmet and the compact, three layer ‘sandwich construction’ shell.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY
Masuri is now based in the UK, with distribution throughout the cricketing world. The Masuri brand continues to be a market leader and a favourite with International and first class players. This is true regardless of the fact that no player has ever been paid to wear the Masuri helmet, whilst our competitors pay for the privilege of having professional players wear their helmets.
One of the reasons that Masuri is the preferred choice of so many professional players is the helmets’ optimum levels of comfort and safety. Masuri is able to provide players with such a product that boasts a state of the art, durable design which has much more brawn and safety features than previous lightweight helmets.
APPLIED TECHNOLOGY
In 2019, Masuri applied all of their knowledge and understanding of impact absorption and safety products and applied it to a new range of batting protection including batting gloves, pads and personal protection. Applying new innovative safety features never seen before in cricket, the new Masuri batting range boasts up to 40% better protection than anything else available on the market.
THE MOST USED CRICKET BATS GLOBALLY
Also in 2019, Masuri joined forces with Sareen Sports to deliver the TON by Masuri range of cricket bats. Complimenting the new range of batting protection, Masuri wanted to complete their offering but without compromising their pedigree as protection specialists.
The official partnership between Masuri and Sareen Sports is a revolutionary move proving successful worldwide.
THE FUTURE…
Masuri remains committed to staying at the forefront of innovation and we are investing heavily to redefine levels of safety and performance in order to meet the demands of the modern game. The high risk strategies of 20/20 cricket and modern safety expectations are a challenge for designers and manufacturers. But with the imminent introduction of such innovation, we will always strive to be the players’ choice and maintain the modern safety features and traditional look with which we have become synonymous.
This has lead us to release the Masuri Vision Series with patented features such as our Eyeline Grille so that Masuri continues to set the standard for cricket helmets for many years to come.
